Ron Dante of The Archies - BIO
Ron Dante, lead voice of The Archies (Sugar, Sugar), The Cuff Links (Tracy), and The Detergents (Leader of The Laundromat) has written, produced, and sung on some of the biggest hits of the 60's. Ron's records have sold over 25 million copies. In the 1960's Ron wrote and sang for such legendary artists as Gene Pitney, Johnny Mathis, Bobby Vee, Gary Lewis & The Playboys, and Bobby Darin. With his group The Detergents he toured with the Dick Clark Caravan of Stars featuring Herman's Hermits, Freddy & The Dreamers, The Hollies, Little Richard, and The Rolling Stones. He performed on all the great 60's shows, including Shindig, Hulabaloo, Dick Clark's Where The Action Is, and The Soupy Sales Show. Ron has also been the lead voice on countless TV and Radio commercials such as Dr. Pepper, Coke, Pepsi, McDonalds, Campbells Soup, Budweiser Beer, Reeses Peanut Butter Cup, and many more.
In the 70's and 80's Ron turned his attention to producing some of the giants of the recording industry. Ron produced all the Barry Manilow hits, such as Mandy, I Write The Songs, Can't Smile Without You, and The Grammy award winning CopaCabana. Ron also produced for Cher, Pat Benetar, Irene Cara, Ray Charles, and John Denver. He has also written and produced music for Walt Disney's TV series "The Little Mermaid" and Showtimes "Full Frontal Comedy."
Ron's real love has always been singing and performing. Currently he has returned to live shows and his touring around the country, meeting and saying hello to his many fans.
