Everyone is talking about The Bootie Shakers! Founded in the spring of '96
in North Hollywood, California, Paul Maselli (formerly of DREAD ZEPPELIN)
had an idea for a 70's tribute dance band that was a little "different"
from the current crop of 70's retro bands that were springing up on the Los
Angeles music scene. Formed from surviving members of the local favorite
classic rock band Pottymouth, the power trio foundation for The Bootie
Shakers was already in place. Members forming this trio include hard-
driving guitarist, band leader and Boo tie Shakers founder Paul Maselli,
rock solid bassist Sean Taddeo, and the thoughtful, artistic keyboard
stylings of Jeff Stone. After a few personnel changes, the perfect lead
vocalist and drummer were finally discovered and incorporated into The
Bootie Shakers line-up to round out what is fast becoming known as the best
70's era disco dance band in Southern California.
On lead vocals: "soulful, inspiring, energetic, and often provocative",
Cory "Rock" Dixon blended perfectly with the "power trio" and the awesome
time keeping talents of newly found drummer Nathan Arbuthnott, thus
completing the make-up of The Bootie Shakers. To see and hear The Bootie
Shakers live is to transport oneself back in time twenty years to the
heyday of the disco dance era when music was fun, sexy and always a
fantastically entertaining party! What makes The Boo tie Shakers
"different" from other area 70's retro dance bands as mentioned above???
Simple . . . . to attend a Boo tie Shakers show is to witness a completely
100O/o live band!!!
Many if not all of the 70's era tribute bands coming
and going around Southern California use minidisks/CD's with pre-recorded
instruments and vocals, playing to a click track, and often times "lip-
syncing" many vocal parts . . . even complete instrument parts!!!
Bandleader Paul Maselli and the other band members saw this as somewhat of
a deception to the paying public, (can you say Milli Vanilli?), and
assembled the finest musicians, (not actors!), available to provide a truly
live experience for dancing partygoers. The advantages of a totally live
band are that there are no restrictions to audience interaction. Songs can
be played as long or as short as needed given the mood of the crowd without
having to rely on the time restrictions of a prerecorded mini-disc/CD.
Every note The Bootie Shakers play or sing is provided by real band members
playing real instruments with no pre-recorded music or lip-syncing
gimmickry. It's hard to believe that all this sound is generated from only
five musicians on stage covering all musical/vocal parts and playing
authentic 70's music from an era where many bands at that time had ten or
more players. Seeing and hearing "is" believing and awe-inspiring!!! The
Bootie Shakers have performed in all types of venues from Los Angeles to
San Diego to Palm Springs with upcoming engagements in Las Vegas, Hawaii
and Northern California.
The Bootie Shakers . . . the last word in live
70's Disco Dance Entertainment!!!
