Jenni Rivera

“Jenni Rivera has trumped Mexico’s endemic sexism to emerge as the most important member of the Rivera family, one who not only recorded groundbreaking music but also smashed the female stereotypes that have always blemished Mexican music. One of the few females who sing narcocorridos- a genre in which bards sully their guitar laments with a worldview that treats women as little more than breast to adorn record covers-Rivera introduced through song the radical notion that women could be depicted as flesh-and blood creatures. And for this, a gender is forever grateful.” OC WEEKLY

Perhaps not enough has been told about women in contemporary Regional Mexican music in particular ‘Banda/Corrido’ genres; but one thing’s for sure: Jenni Rivera is the leading female artist in contemporary Regional Mexican ‘Banda/Corrido,’ a prominent female figure in a genre that is dominated by men.

Throughout her career ‘la Diva de la Banda,’ as her fans have affectionately named her, has enjoyed a loyal following comprised of a multi-generational audience that admires her talent and musical integrity.

Boasting a discography of over a dozen albums may sound like an easy task to accomplish, but for Jenni Rivera they represent a labor of love, hard work and most of all, a myriad of sacrifices. And as customary in everything she does, she continues to strive to be simply the best and as always is on a quest for giving the best of herself to her fans, her family and what she does best, her music.

“Mi Vida Loca” ...“mirrors my life…my life has been very crazy and different. I think I’ve lived happily. Nonetheless, on this album all the songs in one way or another apply either to my experiences or my emotions,” Jenni Rivera states.
